An Artistic Launch of the EU Year for Creativity & Innovation 2009

As the arts are important agents of creativity and innovation, two largest representative European organisations for higher arts education AEC (European Association of Conservatoires) and ELIA (European League of Institutes of the Arts) would like to draw attention to the artistic dimensions of creativity and innovation and focus on the role the arts can play in fostering creativity and innovation in our societies.

In line with their mission, the two organisations organized an event that launched the EU Year for Creativity and Innovation 2009 in an artistic manner.

During this dynamic event in Brussels on January 20th 2009 speeches were given by EU Commissioner Jan Figel’, Chair of the European Parliament Culture Committee Katerina Batzeli, Mrs Blanka Hašová; President of the Cultural Affairs Committee in the Council of the EU on behalf of the Czech EU Presidency, and the presidents of both associations. Artistic presentations were provided by arts students from various European countries.

This event, followed by a reception, took place in Hotel Bloom in Brussels, which is famous for its creative and innovative interior design with mural paintings made by selected art students from different European countries.

Below you can find some photos from the event, the programme and downloadable documents including Katerina Batzeli's speech at the event and the position paper written by AEC and ELIA.
